Households on average create 4.4 lbs each of trash each day, combined with industry and government we collectively send about 30 tons of trash sent to our landfills daily.
Much of that trash is in fact recyclable.
The Micronesia Precious Plastics Pilot Program (MP4) aims to encourage plastic waste reduction while emphasizing the importance of recycling and circular business models. Our program intends to cultivate a zero-waste community by creating and recycling plastic products on Guam.
Although a number of businesses have tried to reduce their plastic intake, Guam’s community continues to face an ongoing waste management crisis, which was MP4’s initial inspiration. There are many great opportunities and possibilities for initiating a plastic polymers industry for Guam and the entire Pacific.
